Performing Arts

Drama, Dance and Music at Greenvale Secondary College is often an entirely new experience for our students. We focus heavily on encouraging positive relationships and peer support through physical, spoken and written exercises. Our curriculum includes physical theatre, voice, devising skills, improvisation, script-writing to create a fun and comprehensive introduction to Drama.

Students who excel at drama are better prepared for job interviews and the workplace, as they cultivate quick thinking, public speaking and group work skills. Research shows that students who are good at taking risks in their learning are better at problem solving. Being creative in front of others develops this ability to take risks, making students more accepting of mistakes and more capable of finding workable solutions. When students learn to support and encourage each other in this process of trial and error, they are better able to cooperate effectively with others and contribute positively as members of society. By giving students opportunities to engage with our local community in performances this allows positive relationships to be formed.

School Production

To enhance our curriculum drama subjects, students can participate in our annual school production.

Each year our talented students enjoy staging a school production involving several hundred students performing, working backstage or playing in the band.
