SRC / House Term 3 Update
Term 3 has been a busy and productive term for the Greenvale Secondary College Student Representative Council (SRC), with students taking action to strengthen student voice, wellbeing and connection across the College.
GSC Sport Shop Launch
Term 3 began with a whole-school assembly, where Year 8 Captain Sally-Rose welcomed Acting Principal Ms Haley Kerr to Greenvale Secondary College. During the assembly, Year 7 leaders Cattelya Kongrung provided an SRC update and officially launched the GSC Sport Shop, which operates every Tuesday during Break 2.
The Sport Shop gives students the opportunity to borrow sporting equipment and get active during lunchtime. A special thank you goes to Poorneet House Leader Hannah Soubjaki, who has been leading the initiative each Tuesday.
The SRC has already noticed an increase in physical activity during recess and lunchtime, with many students getting involved and some even borrowing equipment on additional days. It has been fantastic to see students making the most of the opportunity to be active, connect with others and enjoy their break times.
Celebrating World Principals’ Day
The SRC celebrated World Principals’ Day during the Year 7 Assembly, recognising the dedication and leadership of the College’s Principal Team.
A special shout out goes to Visual Arts Representative Ayda Huseyin, who created individual artworks as a meaningful way of thanking Ms Kerr, Ms Gall, Ms Gibbs, Ms Farnan and Ms Vella. Ayda presented the artworks on behalf of the students, acknowledging the ongoing dedication of the Principal Team in supporting students, staff and the wider College community.
Thank you also to SRC leaders Jordan Stenhouse, Khadijah Mian, Noor-e Fatima, Aysia-Grace Savea and Aaliyah Merhi, who contributed by creating personalised cards.
During the assembly, SRC representatives Sia Parmar and Cattelya Kongrung also spoke about the importance of kindness and what it means to demonstrate and uphold the College’s values in everyday interactions.
Student Voice: Lunchtime Clubs and Activities
Throughout Term 3, Year 8 and Year 9 student representatives visited Connect classes to gather student feedback about potential lunchtime clubs and activities for the remainder of 2026 and into 2027.
Using digital surveys developed by the SRC, students were given an opportunity to share their ideas and have their voices heard. The next step will be to survey the remaining year levels before the SRC reviews the feedback and identifies opportunities to introduce new lunchtime clubs and activities in Term 4 and beyond.
The SRC would also like to acknowledge Mr Lawless for his support with the planning and implementation of the student survey.
Looking Ahead: 2027 SRC
The SRC is excited to launch the 2027 SRC application process at the beginning of Term 4, including applications for the College’s first ever Year 12 Captain position.
Students will have the opportunity to learn more about the importance of student voice, the qualities of effective student representatives and the range of leadership opportunities available at Greenvale Secondary College.
The current SRC looks forward to inspiring the next generation of student leaders to step forward, make their mark and continue building a strong, inclusive and supportive College community.
