Health & Physical Education Department Update – Term 3, 2026 

Term 3 has been another exciting and successful term for our Health and Physical Education Department, with students representing the school across a wide range of sports and competitions. We are incredibly proud of the effort, resilience and sportsmanship displayed by all students who have participated throughout the term. 

Our Year 8 AFL Boys Team competed strongly and were unlucky not to progress beyond the Northern Metropolitan Region (NMR) stage. The boys represented the school with pride and put up a fantastic fight against quality opposition. 

Our Intermediate Boys and Girls Basketball Teams faced strong competition at the Division round. While both teams were unfortunately unable to progress, they competed with determination and should be commended for their efforts throughout the day. 

At the Year 8 NMR Netball Competition, our boys demonstrated tremendous resilience. After narrowly losing their opening game, the team quickly responded, winning their second and third matches convincingly. Despite just missing out on a finals berth, the boys should be extremely proud of reaching the NMR stage and the way they represented the school. 

The highlight of the term has undoubtedly been our Year 7 Boys Netball Team, who have achieved a historic milestone by progressing through to the State Championships later this month. The boys remained unbeaten throughout the day and displayed incredible determination in a memorable second game. Trailing 9-12 at three-quarter time, they produced an outstanding final quarter to secure a thrilling 16-14 victory, highlighted by a clutch goal from Leo W and a dominant shooting performance from Adam S at Goal Shooter. 

The boys then backed up with an outstanding defensive display in the final, defeating strong opposition 9-7. Adam A and Ajay R were instrumental in defence at Goal Keeper and Goal Defence, while Liam T worked tirelessly through the centre court, supported brilliantly by our Wing Attack and Wing Defence players. This achievement is particularly special as it marks the first time in the school’s history that a team has progressed through to State level competition. We wish the boys the very best as they compete at State Finals on 14 September. 

Track and Field has also been a major success this term. We had over 20 students represent the school at Division Athletics, with an impressive 13 students progressing through to NMR Athletics.

• Foga’a A for outstanding performances in Discus and Javelin. 

• Chantelle B for winning four track events. 

• Raavi B for placing first in Javelin. 

• Aria E for winning the 12-13 Girls Long Jump. 

• Emna K for placing first in two events. 

• Laibah K for an incredible five first-place finishes. 

• Ajay R for dominating the 200m sprint and contributing to the successful 4x100m relay team. 

• Bilal S and Adam S for their excellent performances in the 12-13 Boys Shot Put and Javelin. 

• Jacob T for a strong first-place finish in the 800m. 

• Toby T for progressing through in both Triple Jump and the 1500m. 

• Ilhan Y for winning both High Jump and Javelin. 

We look forward to supporting these students at the upcoming NMR Track and Field Championships on 9 September. 

Basketball has also seen strong performances across our junior teams. At the Division Basketball competition, our Year 7 Boys Team was dominant throughout the day, eventually defeating Gladstone Park by more than 20 points in the final to progress through to NMR. Our Year 7 Girls Team battled hard against tough opposition, recording one win and showing excellent determination throughout the day. 

Our final basketball event of the term saw the Year 8 Boys Team continue their impressive form, going unbeaten throughout the competition and earning progression to NMR. The Year 8 Girls Team demonstrated great resilience, securing one victory and narrowly missing out in several closely contested matches against quality opposition. 

As we approach the end of Term 3, we would like to thank all students, staff and families for their ongoing support of school sport. We are excited for the opportunities that still lie ahead, particularly the NMR Track and Field Championships and the Year 7 Boys State Netball Championships. 

The dedication, teamwork and commitment shown by our students continue to make our school community proud. We look forward to celebrating more success stories in the future.
